Welding Fume Extraction for an Elevator Manufacturing Company in Zhejiang

Release Date:

Jun 05,2026

Client Name: A Zhejiang-based elevator manufacturing company

Product & Application: Cartridge-type dust collector; fume capture for automatic and manual welding

Project Timeline: March 2022 – July 2022 (120 days)

Client Background & Requirements:

The client is one of China's largest specialized manufacturers of elevator components. Established in 1992, the company occupies a total area of 40,000 square meters, with a building area of 32,000 square meters. It operates over 280 units of advanced domestic and international processing, testing, and inspection equipment. This includes high-precision machinery imported from Japan, Germany, and Switzerland—such as multi-station CNC punch presses, CNC bending machines, CNC shearing machines, turning centers, and laser cutting machines—as well as an automated electrostatic powder coating line imported from the United States. The company primarily manufactures and sells products including elevator door operators, landing door systems, elevator cars, traction machines, safety components, escalator handrails, and various rubber rollers.

Client Requirements: The project involved retrofitting welding fume control systems for three production lines: the door operator line, the freight elevator door operator line, and the elevator car line. Based on specific welding characteristics, the door operator line utilizes one mobile overhead hood and three fixed overhead hoods for fume collection; the freight elevator door operator line uses four mobile overhead hoods; and the elevator car line uses seven mobile overhead hoods.

Service Process & Why Choose Us:

Tailored to the specific conditions of the workshop, we developed an innovative, retractable, and mobile overhead fume hood (for which an invention patent has been applied). This design effectively captures welding fumes without interfering with the loading and unloading of workpieces via overhead cranes.

The welding fume purification systems serving the three production lines converge indoors—routing above the crane beams—before exhausting through the roof via a shared stack.

To ensure energy efficiency and high performance, we installed motorized dampers on the branch ducts serving each workstation (closing them when not in use) and provided manual control units at the workstations to operate these dampers. The system automatically starts or stops the dual- or quad-fan units based on pressure readings in the main duct or the number of active branch dampers.
