Exhaust air treatment for a French-Owned Electromechanical Factory in Zhejiang

Release Date:

Jun 08,2026

Client Name: A French-owned electromechanical factory in Zhejiang

Product & Application: EMC air purifier; fume and dust extraction for die-casting machines and holding furnaces

Project Timeline: May 2021 – August 2021 (90 days)

Client Background & Requirements:

Founded in 1929, the French R. Bourgeois Group is an industry leader supplying stamped laminations and assemblies for the automotive, motor, generator, and transformer sectors. Now led by the third generation of the founding family, the Group upholds its reputation as the industry's longest-standing supplier, boasting over 85 years of experience in silicon steel processing and high-precision stamping die design and manufacturing. It operates six factories across three continents, including the facility in Jiaxing.

The existing extraction hoods for five die-casting machines at the Jiaxing plant were poorly designed and required replacement and upgrades, including the installation of pneumatic mechanisms (existing support rails needed to be extended and reinforced). While the holding furnace hoods were to be retained, new extraction hoods were required for one additional die-casting machine and one additional holding furnace; pneumatic hood support rails were also required for the new die-casting machine. The existing exhaust stack was to be reused. Based on the tonnage, quantity, and operating shifts of the die-casting machines and holding furnaces, the system was designed for a total airflow of 80,000 m³/h. The system includes a pre-spray stage and a circulating water tank with automatic sludge removal, as well as a new 110 kW fan (the original fan could not be reused, as its efficiency would have dropped to approximately 50% in the new system).

(The original collection system lacked purification equipment, as shown in the image above, and requires environmental upgrades.)

The exhaust air pollutants primarily consist of particulate matter, aerosols, alkanes, amines, and esters.
Based on the characteristics of the pollutants, a low-pressure-drop EMC mechanical fume purification system is employed; it features an automatic sludge removal system and a pre-spraying system (serving as the first stage of spray purification while preventing adhesion and fire hazards).
Exhaust air treatment process: Die-casting machine mold-release agent fume hoods + furnace-side flue gas hoods – Airtight welded ductwork collection – Pre-spraying fume filtration and purification unit (with automatic sludge removal tank) – 110 kW centrifugal fan (VFD-controlled) – 15m high exhaust stack.
Exhaust emissions from this project comply with the Class II standards set forth in the *Integrated Emission Standard of Air Pollutants* (GB16297-1996). The specific upgraded indicators adopted by the client based on this standard are detailed in the table below:

No.PollutantsMaximum allowable emission concentration (mg/m³)Stack height (m)Maximum allowable emission rate (kg/h)
1Particulate matter20153.5
2Non-methane total hydrocarbons1201510
